Looming Lady Blog
I’m making Christmas presents frantically at this time of year. Here is a braided loom knit scarf that I made for a niece of mine. I made fingerless gloves to go with it. The simple pattern for them is at the bottom. These were made on the Knifty Knitter set.
Project: Braided ScarfSize: fits average sized woman’s neck loosely. Tools: # 12 peg loom, hook, yarn needle. For the gloves, 24 peg loom. Gauge: does not matter. Keep your stitches smooth and even by smoothing them as you make them. Supplies: sport weight yarn. Yarn needle. Abbreviations and explanations: WY Working yarn K: Knit P Purl FS Flat Stitch Row: Knit flat across stitches, turn. Round: Knit across stitches, continue in circle. Repeat after * means to follow the pattern described all across the row or round. Pattern: E-wrap all pegs, knit 120 rounds in flat knit stitch. Knit off all stitches. Set aside. E-wrap all pegs, knit 130 rounds in flat knit stitch. Knit off all stitches, leaving a long tail. Use the tails and yarn needle to sew ends of both pieces closed. Now braid your pieces. Sew the piece ends together, with the slightly longer piece on the inside of the braid. The gloves are for one size fit most for women. Make 2 E-wrap all the pegs of the 24 peg loom, knit one, purl 1 around for 5 rounds. Rounds 6 - 15: knit around with flat stitch. Use flat stitch throughout the pattern. Round 16: knit 1, knit 1 off (for thumb), knit around. Round 17: Knit 1, e-wrap 1, knit around. Rounds 18-29: Knit around. Round 30: knit all stitches off.
