I was thinking of valentines day this week. So I made this heart charm. I'm going to add a loop to put it on a bracelet. Here's how I made it.
size: about 1 1/2 in high, 2 inches around at base.
what you need: size 4 steel hook, small amount of size 10 cotton yarn in the color of your choice, yarn needle.
what you need to know: chain (ch), slip stitch (ss), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), triple crochet (tc), decrease sc (single crochet 2 stitches together)
gauge: 3 sc = ½ inch, 3 rows = 1 inch
Chain 2. Make 5 single crochet in 2nd chain from hook. Slip stitch to top of 1st sc.
Round 2: Chain 1, sc in same stitch, sc twice in each sc around. Join with as to back loop only of 1st sc in round 1.
Round 3: Working in back loops only, sc around. 10 sc. Join with as to first sc.
Round 4: decrease sc around, 5 sc done. Very lightly stuff base.
Round 5: Chain 2, sc in same stitch, sc in next stitch. *2 sc in next stitch, sc in next around. 8 scs done. Join with ss to first stitch in round.
Rounds 8: sc in 1st stitch (attachment stitch) and each sc around. Ss to top of first round. 9 sc done.
Round 9, sc in same stitch, * sc in next 2 stitches, sc, repeat from * around. 12 sc join with ss to first sc.
Round 10: *ch 1, [sc, hdc in next stitch], [dc, tc, ss in next st] [ss] [ sc, hdc in next st] [dc, tc, ss] in next stitch, repeat from *. bind off.
stuff lightly. ss top shut. Weave in all threads.
Want to add a loop at the top for a necklace or bracelet? Attach yarn with a slip stitch to the middle of the top of the heart. Chain 5, slip stitch to slip stitch, bind off. Weave in threads.
