Two circles

I made a three round circle on a 12 peg mitten loom. That is to say, I flat stitch knitted three rounds, purled a round, and flat stitch knitted three rounds. Then I bound off and pulled both sides of the circle closed.
Then I did the same pattern on a 24 peg small Knifty Knitter loom. But the circle came out much bigger than the first circle. I expected some differences, but I was shocked. Look at the picture to the left!
The circle made on the 24 peg loom is almost 3 inches across and dense – harder to close completely.  On the right is the circle made on the 12 peg loom. It is a little over an inch across. This is a prime example of gauge.
Why did I complete this study? It’s a secret for now, but these circles will reappear in my future book, “Looming with Leftovers II”. I’m planning on July 1, 2017.  First will come the next Looming Lady story, “A Looming Lady and Her Pets” projected for May 5, 2017.
